Here's one just for you Hayden!

Jeffrey and I got to feed (throw carrots to) Reba, the Asian Elephant, at the zoo! She's 39 years old (older than me!) and retired from the circus. She's doesn't like to be around the other elephants, so she had the playground all to herself. Right now, she's working on a puzzle to try and get her treats out of the barrell. The fun fact we learned was that you can tell what type of elephant it is based on the ear shape: ears shaped like Asia = Asian Elephants, ears shapred like Africa = African Elephants.

You can see other pictures of our zoo trips on our family website, but this one was my favorite. Our zoo pass runs out in March, so we're trying to use it all we can until then. Hayden, there are more pictures of all the zoo's elephants and videos about them on the zoo's website.

OK, so I know that the contest and submissions were supposed to be a month ago, but I'm just now finding a little time to download pictures, sort through them and post... and I was also waiting for the challenge. What happened? Someone was bragging on their big old project, and I never saw it! But, before next Christmas roles around I thought I'd post my gingerbread house pictures. 

I think this is great for mom and dad and for us...

And I threw in a picture of the back, too. It turned out just so cute! No log piles and excess frosting stacked up in the back.We also made some family gingerbread houses for family night, but I can't find the pictures of those.

Jessica in Provo

The last time I was in Provo with Jessica, she was a newborn, and she slept on my tummy on the couch so her mom could get a little sleep, at this location.

Having lunch with a very important young lady. Unfortunately the pictures of moving in are not in my camera, but we had a good and production trip.

OK, Ben. So I guess these aren't sugar babies. They're cantaloupes. Mix up during planting. (The ones we thought were cantaloupes, are the pumpkins, and those aren't doing so well.) Guess I'm out.

The Bassett Family Entry...Prepare to be amazed....

This was so much fun. Everything went well until.... Well, we'll get to that in the end.
Here's a view of our gingerbread village just at sunset. This little house was Jeffrey's brain child (mom did a little artistic directing.) But it was his idea to put the gingerbread man on the roof hanging Christmas lights. He wanted the sprinkles to go all the way around the edges of the roof as lights, but since we were at the end of the evening, we trimmed his hat instead.

Brandon helped nibble down all the necco wafers so they fit correctly. What a helper.

This is Amanda's creation...she was all by her lonesome on this one. Taylor started out helping, but had to leave, so she managed to get it all done by herself. We forgot to take a picture of the log pile and chimney in the back, & and I also didn't get a very good detail of her cobble stone walkway made of out the cracked pieces of the necco wafers.....sorry Amanda-they were great ideas!

Brandon is responsible for the star atop the house. He went to the trouble of eating the sucker so he could use the stick to put up the star...again, always serving.

This house was a collaborative affair. Jessica had icing duty. She made all the royal icing for all the houses. It took a LONG time to get the green thick enough to take some shape. Brandon and Jeffrey helped mom decorate the house-especially working on the roof and the gables and again with the Christmas lights trimming the house.

There's a little Santa that goes on the door-but since he's not edible, he's not in the picture. There's also a lawn Nativity, but we had the same problem there. I (Angie) made the trees and the pebbled path, and Amanda filled in all the snow around the ground. Jeffrey sacrificed his fruit by the foot for the door. Sweet boy.

Mark made the tree, including basic assembly, trimming and wrapping the presents.

And everything was going fine, until.....

Definitely Dangerous, Yes

Mom was dead on with her dangerous chocolate cake recipe. Mark and Jess tried it last night (I did sneak a bite). We did run into a sna-foo. No chocolate chips. However, we're happy to report that peanut butter cup morsels substitute nicely. The coolest part was watching it rise at least double the height of the mug while still in the microwave. Unfortunately, it fell back down a little before we could open the door and snap a picture.

Sammy's hen house

Sam, this post is a little late, but I still thought I'd post it. I heard that Dixie ate up four of your hens when you were on vacation, so when we saw these at the corn festival I thought they'd make great replacements! I don't know what kind of eggs they lay, but there were really awesome. One of the hens looked like it had black fur, but it was camera shy. My favorite is the white bandy hen with the ruffled feathers. It was so cute. It was a really strange group of animals. Besides the chicken with fur, there was a rabbit that looked like it had feathers. Crazy.

Gotta love Arizona, land of the sun!

We had Christmas zone conferences-3 days of meeting with all our missionaries and then a trip to the temple and lunch. It was so great. Our last day of conferences, we stopped by the side of the road to take pictures of the assistants playing in the snow before Elder Hermann (far right) went home in the morning. It was a lof of fun, but we were really sad to see Elder Hermann go. We love him!
