Bon giorno!

We took a water taxi from the airport. Pricey, but the only way to enter Venice!
After traveling for 18 hours including layover time in Washington DC, where we connected with Peter, and Munich, we were all pretty tired. but we managed to stay awake until 6:30 when we went back to our hotel to freshen up. A couple of us decided to take a quick power nap, which lasted until 2:00 AM. But we were bright eyed and bushy tailed the next morning!

Jessica and Peter on one of the thousands (at least it seems like that many) of bridges we've walked over in the last two days. We've certainly gotten our exercise.

We stayed at the Hotel Flora - small and cozy - great atmosphere. Here we are by the well in the garden courtyard dining area. We enjoyed a nice breakfast, and built up our reserves for the day.

Today we visited the islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello!

On Murano we saw a glass blowing demonstration and some very beautiful (and expensive) glassware.

Burano is a colorful fishing village, also known for its outstanding lace work. The homes are all painted bright colors, making for a colorful background for the days activities.
Torcello is the home of an ancient bacilica.
